The Great Gatsby

A few weeks ago it was my friends 21st birthday party and it was 'The Great Gatsby' theme which was amazing! I had knew about the theme for a few months but still left it till the last minute to try and pull an outfit together. I had wanted to wear a floor length dress as I had never worn one and felt this was the perfect opportunity, I originally went around shops like tkmaxx, miss selfridge, Frasers and Debenhams but all the dresses were so similar and ones I had seen hundreds of times. After having no luck I decided to try my chances at Mr bens a vintage shop in the centre of Glasgow which had loads of amazing dresses! Some way out of my price range but most of them were cheaper than high street prices. After trailing through each rail I literally was in and out of the changing rooms 3 times with about 18 dresses and typical it was that last dress I tried on that was perfect. As you can see in the photo it is a floor length black dress which is covered in beads and embroidery. I have big hips so once I got home I had to do a little bit of altering at the waist to make it more fitted. I literally walked around my house for a good 30minutes in the dress as I didn't want to take it off! Sad, I know.
In my previous post I mentioned I shopped around the vintage shops down in Berwick and picked up this head piece! Which is beautiful it was placed in an old treasure chest surrounded by diamonds and broches and in true mans style my brother haggled with the shop owner and I got it for £4 bargain!! I think it is actually made to wear as a shirt collar but I thought it worked so well in my hair. To complete the look I wore my VIP hair by Vicky, long suede gloves and a pair of black sling back heels.
Overall, I loved this look! I felt good and was such a great night celebrating my friends night.
Apologies for the photo quality didn't manage to get photos on my camera the night of the party.
